Story
Hi, and thanks for taking a look at my fundraising page for Marie Curie Cancer Care.
I never thought I'd run a 10th marathon, but here we are on the verge of Chester, 6th October 2013. http://www.activeleisureevents.co.uk/full-marathon.aspx
It's 30 years since Tom & I ran our first marathons with just 6 weeks training, and more than 20 years since my last in Oslo.
I owe thanks to lots of people for helping me get back into the groove, especially Hazel, Lauren & Molly for putting up with me training, Max for the dog walks for great calf muscle therapy, and Gordon for those early Beacon Fell training runs.
Personally I think Marie Curie cancer care is as good as it gets for worthwhile charity causes. We've all got our own personal connection to the needs of family and friends in times of need! For me, this is in memory of my Dad, who passed away in 2011.
I'll be digging deep to get around the 26.2 miles. Please let's all dig deep for this worthy cause.
What time am I aiming for? Well, I would so like to get under the first ever (and slowest) time of 3 hrs 42 mins in 1983, but is that realistic? - I'll let you know in September, just before the race - the reality may be that I'll be delighted to get under 4 hours.
Thanks for your support.
Rob
