Saints With Heart began in 2002, after three Saints fans suffered from heart problems in the space of a few months. The idea was put forward to have a sponsored walk for the BHF. A group of about twenty Saints fans set off from Franklin’s Gardens on a circular route, and raised £4,000 in a very short period of time.

The following year, the routes we currently used began to take shape – a long walk from Wolverton (starting at the train station) and a medium one from around halfway (previously Stoke Bruerne, now Blisworth). A shorter route was added a few years later, with various starting points tried but now settled at Rothersthorpe, following the same route as the longer walks.

We have had great support from other Premiership clubs in previous years – they have supplied signed shirts for walkers to wear along the way, these have then been auctioned off to that club’s supporters to raise more money. If you would like to take part in this scheme, please get in touch.

For the tenth anniversary walk, due to clashes with the Rugby World Cup, the timings were changed from the previous years’ October to the end of the season. All future walks will now take place in the spring rather than autumn.
