Great I have your attention, thank you for taking time out to read my story.
My journey in running started in August 2017, back then I was a very unhealthy 16st 8lb, my partner Emma who had recently completed the couch to 5k challenge, persuaded me after many months of coaxing to try running again as she new I really did want to be healthier. So I stood up to the challenge, well only as she had packed some running gear for our holiday lol.
On return from holiday I joined the parents running group at my sons swimming lessons, and I now run between 15-25 miles per week for fun?????, trust me it’s not always fun.
Yes I ache and moan most of the way round on my runs but have a massive sense of achievement after every completed run, over the last 11months (August to July) I have completed some 565 miles, over 132 runs. With the added bonus of losing 2 stone thrown in. (Without a diet change yet).
This is a massive achievement in itself, so I thought surely I can put this into some use, this is where running for charity came in.
A lot of medical journals state a healthy body leads to a healthy mind, and I must confess I felt a poor example to my children who were and are very active.
I am fortunate enough not to know anyone directly impacted with Alzheimer’s but would wish that if I did suitable funds were being utilised to assist those impacted in whatever way possible.
Please help in supporting this great cause.
The Alzheimer’s Society is transforming the landscape of dementia forever.Until the day we find a cure, we will create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted, able to live in their community without fear or prejudice.
