Story
‘The British Red Cross is a volunteer-led humanitarian organisation that helps vulnerable people in crisis, whoever and wherever they are.’
Having volunteered for the British Red Cross for a few months earlier in 2013, I have seen firsthand the amazing work the organisation does for people whose lives are in danger all around the world, no matter the scale of their problem. In my time there, I was able to work on projects ranging from large scales crises like sending aid to regions recovering from earthquakes, to smaller scale projects such as providing welfare access at the Reading Half Marathon. The work carried out by the British Red Cross is vital, and the volunteers work tirelessly to bring these projects to fruition. I have also seen just how valuable all donations are to the British Red Cross whether they are in the form of money, skills or time.
I travelled to Newcastle last year to support my dad in The Great North Run 2012 and was inspired to compete with him in this year’s event. I believe this challenge is also the perfect opportunity to attempt to raise money for a cause I feel strongly about so please, if you can, support me in my efforts to complete the BUPA Great North Run 2013 and donate some money for a very worthy cause.
