Woodgreen is a charity that's here for pets and their people. We want all pets to live the best possible life, and we do everything we can to make that a reality – every step of the way. From shelter and care to practical support, we help pets live happy, fulfilling lives with their humans.

Story

Christmas Santa Run for Wood Green Animal Shelters

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Firstly, thank you for all your support.  It was a great incentive to complete the race and the amazing total you have helped us raise is going to a cause very close to our hearts.

The race began in drizzle with a wet bunch of 1500-2000 santa suit wearing fun runners doing a mass warm up, and at around 10am we hit the start line.  Wonderful views of London, Greenwich Park, and a great atmosphere among all the runners characterised the run.  The sun even came out half way through!

Thank you so much once again - ... and if you haven't had the chance to donate yet ... we, and Wood Green, would be so pleased to receive any donation, no matter how small.  Every penny counts!    The photo above is at the end of the race of Bob, me, Prue (runners) and Ruth and Joe from WG (who gave us tremendous support).

Please help us to raise funds for Wood Green to help them continue working for abandoned and homeless pets and animals.

We don't run much, and are certainly not fitness fanatics, but this cause is one that we feel is worth dressing up in a santa suit and running 5km for.  The Santa Run 2009 takes place in Greenwich Park on 6 December and more than 1,000 santas are expected to take part.   Photos may follow ... in return for a donation!

Wood Green Animal Shelters, rely on public donations (no Government or Lottery funds at all) and do a brilliant job often under difficult circumstances.

In the last six months, WGAS rescued a number of cats under particularly difficult circumstances.  We adopted two of these cats and they are wonderful characters!  We want to help Wood Green to save even more animals than they do now. The Heydon shelter is raising money so that they can adopt the latest animal welfare techniques and they need to have a lot of building work done to make this possible.  The Heydon Shelter opened in 1954 and many of the enclosures have "reached the point of no return" and need to be replaced.  The plan is to build a modern, comfortable rehoming facility with 27 individual cat houses.  A separate isolation facility has also been included in the plans.  Shy, nervous cats will feel increasingly secure and will have a better chance of finding a home more quickly.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - we raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Thank you so much for any donation you feel able to give
