Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Each year I tend to fund raise for Terrence Higgins Trust. They are a great charity who work with those diagnosed with HIV.
Just like my other pages, you will read some strong views on HIV, PrEP access and just general thoughts around the press and political sentiment towards HIV.
Terrence Higgins Trust works beyond this to ensure that those living with HIV continue to receive support, guidance and effective treatment. They work to re-educate people about the U=U studies (i.e. those on effective HIV treatment who are 'undetectable' cannot pass on the virus through unprotected sex), they offer helplines, online services, contribution to research, and more.
As you may have heard, two people are thought to have been cured of HIV in the world. Each day we move closer and closer to a cure and hopefully one that I will see in my lifetime. We have seen far greater progress towards a cure in the last few years than in the last 30-40 since the crisis began. Just recently scientists ‘cornered’ the virus in a new study and eradicated it in mice. Sponsorship could bring this closer to becoming reality.
In London alone, since the introduction of the PrEP Impact Trial, new diagnoses are down 37%.
