My story

On yer bike for Barnardos!

From London to Chesterfield, from the capital to the heart of the country, Post Office colleagues throughout the UK are proud to support Barnardo’s and have raised an incredible £600,000 since autumn 2010 for their work with children and young people in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

What better way to add to that total in June than to get on two wheels in National Bike Week.

Bike Week is a great chance for everyone to re-discover their bikes; whether it’s family rides, exercise or cycling to work and we'll be encouraging all our colleagues to cycle in that week.  Just donating the money saved on petrol alone could make a big difference to a child supported by Barnardos!

A small team of us are taking the “bike to work” theme a little bit further! We’re riding the 200 miles from London to Chesterfield in a little over two days:

Tuesday 21 June

-          Start from London with a bike related event at Post Office premises as we leave

Tuesday 21 and Wednesday 22 June

-          Visit Post Office branches and trading partners, for local celebrations and fund raising en route

Thursday 23 June

-          Grand finish on Thursday morning in Chesterfield marketplace

-          Edinburgh Bicycle Co-operative will be there carrying out:

o       Dr Bike – basic bike checks for customers

o       Smoothie Bikes fun event – make your own smoothie powered by a static bike for a donation to Barnardo’s

Please support us in any way you can

-          Please sponsor us by making a donation on this page – large or small, it will be appreciated by Barnardo’s and the children they support

-          No need to wait for 2016 and the Northern England bid to host Le Grand Depart of the Tour de France - join us now, on yer bike, cheering at the roadside or via your mobile on Twitter @On_YerBike

Even if you can't make the events on our route, please do try to cycle to work sometime soon and please don’t forget your donation to Barnardos through this page.

Many thanks for your support
