Story

Firstly many thanks for clicking on my Fund Raising page. Believe it or not this year I am running my first ever half marathon, yes a full 13.1miles through the picturesque and probably rain sodden, streets of Cardiff. If you want to join me or just fancy checking out the route then click on the link:

Those that know me will be wondering “what has tempted Rodger to this feat of endurance/stupidity?” I will in fact be running in support of “Help for Heroes” a charity which as a serving TA Rifleman is something that is close to me. We all see the reports of those killed or wounded serving in Afghanistan, “Help for Heroes” offers direct, practical support to the not only those wounded but to their families; to quote their website:

"It’s about the blokes, our men and women of the Armed Forces. It’s about Derek, a rugby player who has lost both his legs, it’s about Carl whose jaw is wired up so he has been drinking through a straw. It’s about Richard who was handed a mobile phone as he lay on the stretcher so he could say goodbye to his wife. It’s about Ben, it’s about Steven and Andy and Mark, it’s about them all. They are just blokes but they are our blokes; they are our heroes. We want to help our heroes."

I’m trying to raise £500 which I know is a big ask but I’m confident that with your help I can reach and hopefully breach this total. Please dig deep, give anything you can and if you’re a UK tax payer then sign up for gift aid – it doesn’t cost you a penny and it adds 17.5% to your donation.

“Celer et Audax”

The title of my page is taken from the motto of The Rifles – “Swift and Bold” or in my case “Slow and Old”!

Thanks once again for your time and your donation

 ************ UPDATE!!!!***************UPDATE!!!!***************

Well folks the run is now complete! I managed to drag my backside around in 2hrs09mins08seconds, which considering my first target was to make it alive isn't too bad. Massive thanks to those who've donated and those who've given me cash in hand - I'll be adding that as soon as I've finished collecting. Still plenty of time to donate, this page is open until the begining of December!!

cheers

Rodger
