The Great Wall of China Trek
Over the course of 9 days we are going to trek 35km along the twists, turns, steps and slopes of this formidable fortification. We will cross watch towers and battlement stations, climb the Heavenly Ladder and help rebuild part of the wall.

So many children in the UK face devastating circumstances, such as Mia, whose father died when she was just four years old, or Sameer who had a severe phobia of fire engines after experiencing a fire in his home aged six. In fact, one in eight children has a
diagnosable mental health problem such as anxiety or depression – that’s three children in every classroom. 75% of lifetime mental health problems start before the age of 18. In spite of this only 6% of the mental health bill is spent on children. It is evident that children’s mental health support is an area that is too often overlooked.
Place2Be seek to redress this imbalance by providing mental health support to children when they need it most. They know that if we act early we can prevent mental health problems from having a lasting impact on children for the rest of their lives. Their services include school-based counselling for children, in-depth training programmes for
school teachers and training for child mental health professionals.
The China trek team aims to raise £67,500 – this will be enough to provide Place2Be support in five London schools for two years - reaching 2,430 children. That's providing a space for them to access support from a trained counsellor to unravel and understand
their feelings, unburden their problems, build their emotional resilience and develop coping mechanisms for the future.
