Raising money for Momentum UK

Momentum is a not-for-profit organisation which works in partnership to enable and empower disabled and socially excluded people to identify and achieve their goals. <p> Our programmes promote equal choices, equal chances and equal futures for more than 2,000 people every year, assisting them to achieve independence, move towards jobs and remain active citizens in their communities. <p> Some of our service users will need support to rebuild their lives following an accident or illness, while others will be aiming to achieve employment for the first time. We support them to break down whatever barriers are preventing them from moving forward in their lives. <p> Momentum delivers services throughout the UK and currently operates programmes in the areas of brain injury, spinal injury, mental health, physical disability, learning disability, employment, care and supported living, social enterprise and community rehabilitation. Momentum is part of the Rehab Group, which has been leading the way internationally in the provision of services for disabled people for 60 years.

Turning 30 I decided to do something to fight the expansion of the waist line by challenging myself to swim the length of . This is a 27 mile swim and should take between 15-18 hours. Planning on doing it on the 11th of September 2010 and depending on the weather conditions on the day I should start on the south shore about 6 in the morning with an aim to finish on the north shore around 9 o'clock. Depending on the conditions the distance may change and it might be a 10 mile swim across the widest part of the loch.

Now as I'm sure you are aware this is a bit of a monster challenge which ever direction I go in so I've decided to try and raise some money for the charity Momentum They provide equipment such as laptop with voice recognition software for people who have suffered spinal injuries.
