Hi Folks,
Last year, Ros Ard's triathlon was a great success, the sun was on our side, everyone finished after a great trip and the lamb we've put on the barbecue was the start of an unforgettable (well, some still wish to forget some parts of it, fabien?) party!
So this year we're up for the same craic! the three lads (Charles, Conor and Dirk) invite all of you for a challenge possible for all of you!
Location: Sunny Galway (Google maps: ros ard 46 Galway Ireland)
Date: 1st May 2010, around noon
Challenge: Triathlon, with our own rules (click here for a profile of the track)
Swimming, well let's call it water experience: as the water is too cold to swim, we cross the rusheen bay, most of it is knee-high deep so we can run through it (30m-300m, depending on the tide)
Cycling out to Barna, take a right up towards the golf club, and head for Galway on the Moycullen road (15km)
Running from college (or Salthill, tbd) along the beach back to Ros Ard (5-7km)
The first one who gets to finish a pint of Guinness from the fridge wins, which is nice.
All are welcome, as long as you take care of your own safety! But everyone with 2 legs can do it!
Afterwards we invite all of you for a Murphy-farmed lamb on the barbecue in our garden, suits you! The French Olympics competition is on till the early hours (depending on our creativity).
Given the spirit of the whole event, we thought it would be nice to raise some money for less fortunate people. We got fascinated by a project treating a nasty infectious disease in Burundi, called "River Blindness". Dr Eamonn O'Donoghue from the Galway University Hospital Eye Clinic is strongly involved in the organization and we want to give him our full support in the project.
Feel free to donate (participants, friends, family, all welcome!) through this site or on the day itself, it's a fascinating program where the treatment is supplied by a multinational pharmaceutic company and the support is funded by donations like yours.
But most of all: see you all on May 1st in Sunny Galway!
Charles, Conor and Dirk (Ourselves)
ps. bear in mind, you donate in Pound Sterling! (1£=1.1€ or 1.52$)
