We fund research into type 1 diabetes to find a cure for type 1 diabetes

Story

We have decided to take part in the British Gas Great London Swim 2012  - basically a mile long swim in the river Thames - on the 26th May 2012, in an effort to raise some cash for Juvenile Diabetes Reseach Foundation.  As you know, our daughter Lily was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes two years ago, so JDRF, which exists to find the cure for Type 1 Diabetes and its life-threatening complications, is an extremely important charity for us.

The UK government allocated £51 million for funding for diabetes last year, but only £6 million of this was applicable to Type 1 Diabetes (an auto-immune disease which is very different to type 2), therefore JDRF needs every penny you can donate.

Also, we're going to be swimming in the freezing cold, dirty Thames whilst wearing wetsuits - that's got to be a good enough reason for you to spare a few quid?!

Thank you!
