In September I will be competing in the Great North Run. This will be my first half-marathon and I have chosen to support the Bala Orphanage in Kenya. I believe that many African children live in dire poverty. Some are starving; many face an early death through sickness. Such misery can easily be avoided if we in the developed world make an effort. The Bala Children’s Home offers security and education to hundreds whose future would otherwise be bleak. Recent examination results testify to the quality of schooling offered.
