CMS Tandem Skydive · 23 October 2010

Church Mission Society began in 1799 with a group of Christians, including William Wilberforce, who said yes to Jesus’ call to follow him to the edges. Today, in that same pioneering spirit, we continue to share Jesus’ love at the edges – working in over 40 countries across the world and in the UK.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

CMS is a brilliant organisation working in so many ways in so many countries. Here are 2 stories

Tanzania - Mission among children, especially marginalised children, is one of many contexts in which CMS people in mission work to bring about transformation in Jesus’ name. Mission partners Andy and Susie Hart * write from Tanzania, “We met Musa two years ago as when he was 11. Due to cerebral palsy, he’d never walked or talked. He was seen as a waste of space and time.” But as a result of the physiotherapy programme for disabled children at Neema Crafts, started by the Harts, Musa can now walk unaided and has a basic vocabulary.* NEWS Susie has just been nominated one of the four Women of the Year for her work

In Brazil, My Father’s House Project, is reaching out to the poor and vulnerable in a shanty town in Olinda. This area is particularly dangerous, and the project reaches out to the many children who are caught up in the drug trade. One of the oldest boys in the project, Inaldo, was recently able to find a job at an electrical company which specializes in repairing fridges and air conditioning units, where he will be working as an apprentice. This is a wonderful opportunity for Inaldo to learn a trade, as well as earning a small wage – an opportunity that he would never have had were it not for the support and education he received at My Father’s House.

Please help me help them in this moment of mid-life (some might say) madness to do my bit.
