We improve standards of education in Africa to ensure children get a quality education

Story

I am aiming to raise money for The Link Community Development Project by partaking in a sponsored hitchhike over 1,200 miles to Morocco in the 2012 Easter Holidays.  I was originally aiming for £1000, but since this target has been reached, I'm now aiming a little higher and going for £2000.  I have included some information below about this work of this charity, and although this should be enough to have you rooting in your pockets, here are some further incentives:

-If I reach £100, I will go without chocolate for 2 weeks - COMPLETED

-If I reach £200, I will wear my onesie into uni on my busiest day of lectures - COMPLETED

-If I reach £300, I will fast for 24 hours - COMPLETED

-If I reach £400, I will draw a moustache on my face everyday for 1 week - COMPLETED

-If I reach £500, I will complete my journey to Morocco dressed as a fairy - COMPLETED

-If I reach £600, I will sleep on the kitchen floor in our flat for 1 week - COMPLETED

-If I reach £1000, I will do the Liverpool half marathon in fancy dress - COMPLETED

I hope you can help me to achieve my target donation for this incredibly worthwhile cause.

Thank you!

Link Community Development works at all levels of the education system – with communities, schools and governments – to identify and remove the obstacles to quality education.  They currently work in rural districts of Ethiopia, Ghana, Malawi, South Africa, and Uganda, and there is demand for them to extend their work to other countries.

Link also works with schools in England & Wales, Ireland, Scotland and the USA. They build support for development and raise awareness of important global issues through our Link Schools Programme, as well as raising funds and supporting their work in sub-Saharan Africa.

Link aims to work within the national education policy of each country to ensure that their work is developed with the support of the government.  The charity also works with communities, so that they understand what their school should be providing, and how they can play a role in raising standards.

Link works within individual schools to ensure a deep understanding of the education system and the practical difficulties that schools face. In this way, Link provides district education authorities and schools with the tools, training and support to understand how schools are performing, measure performance and to plan for improvement.  Their work at district level reaches hundreds of schools and communities and thousands of children.
