On 22 November I will be joining some other FARM-Africa supporters (and 30,000 other runners) to take part in the 2009 Great Ethiopian Run – a 10k run in Addis Ababa at an altitude of 2,500 metres! I am so excited to have the opportunity to take part in the biggest race ever on the African continent and I see this not only as a great way to raise funds for FARM-Africa but also, as I am retiring at the end of October, as a way to celebrate the 12 years I have worked for this fantastic organisation.

 FARM-Africa works with rural communities in eastern Africa providing the training and support they need to identify and implement appropriate solutions to many of the key problems they face.  Families are directly supported to help work themselves out of poverty through improved ways to manage their crops, livestock, forests and access to water. At this time of severe drought and ever increasing food prices the work is more important than ever.
