The King’s Trust supports 11 to 30 year-olds who are unemployed or struggling at school to get their lives on track. Many of the young people we support are in or leaving care, have been in trouble with the law, or they are facing challenges such as homelessness or mental health issues.

Story

On Saturday 25th to Monday 27th May, I will be participating in the “The 3 Peaks Challenge” along with other HP interns based in the UK.

The overall aim of the challenge is to climb the 3 highest peaks in Scotland, England and Wales within 24 Hours! This covers 24 Miles (around a marathon!) and I will climb about 10,000 feet by the end.

The first obstacle is the highest of the three mountain’s: Ben Nevis in Scotland with an elevation of 1344m. Then  we drive south to Scafell Pike in the Lake District to walk up 978m. Finally, we will reach Snowdon in Wales, where we will climb the remaining 1085m.

The important reason why I am putting myself through this challenge filled with excruciating blisters, hunger, thirst, ever changing weather conditions-including snow, long buses filled with increasingly knackered interns and aching muscles is to help 13-30 year olds who have struggled at school, have been in care, are long term unemployed or have been in trouble with the law. We are raising money for the UK based charity:  The Princes Trust Charity which gives practical and financial support and helps develop key workplace skills such as confidence and motivation for this group of people.
