This will be the third time that I have done the Aviemore Half Marathon. I did it in 2006 and in 2008. Last year, my attempt at it was what I can best describe as a joke, and not a very funny one at that. Basically I put my back out with about 3 weeks to go before the event, and then the weekend before, I got a stinking cold! I did still do the event, but it was a case of running to survive! My overall time was 2hrs 35 mins.

This year I managed to stay fit and heathy and to break the 2 hour mark!  My overall time for this event was 1 hr 55 mins and 54 seconds. I did the Dyce Half Marathon at the beginning of August in 2 hrs 3 mins, so this is a personal best time! I was well pleased with this result. It was a perfect day for the run - not too hot, but at the same not too cold. It was a clear day. We did get a small rain shower in the lst 2 miles or so, but it wasn't enough to dampen my spirits - cooled me down if nothing else!

All the proceeds go towards the Speyside Trust, which are an outfit who run Badaguish near Aviemore. Badaguish is an outdoor centre which is set up for disabled people so that everyone can enjoy the outdoors! I know that outdoor pursuits is not everyone's cup of tea, but if you have ever climbed a hill, can you imagine what it would be like if you were disabled? So dig deep and give generously!
