DVLCC supports children under 5 with cerebral palsy and other motor learning impairments through a life-changing, intensive early intervention service. With pioneering therapies to unlock their full potential, our children and their families take the first step toward a brighter future.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. As you may be aware my Daughter Sydney-Mae has Cerebral Palsy caused by her birth. She is twenty months old now and she is the most beautiful and happy little girl you could possibly meet! However, Sydney-Mae is substantially affected by her disability. She is unable to sit unaided, crawl or walk; although she gives them all a good try. My wife Aimee takes Sydney-Mae to 'The Dame Vera Lynn School for Parents' in Billingshurst one day each week where we are taught 'Conductive Education' by the wonderful staff. They teach parents how to position their children and work with the children to help them reach their full potential. Since Sydney-Mae started at the school in September 2009 her sitting balance has improved, she is beginning to 'creep' (her version of crawling) and her eating has greatly improved. All in all the support and education the school offers us and the other families that attend is invaluable. The service is free to all the families as 'The Dame Vera Lynn Trust' pays for everything, which is why I am running the Brighton Full Marathon to raise money to say 'thank-you'. I have only ever run half marathons so this will be quite a challenge, but an extremely worthwhile one.

Please dig deep and help me raise lots of money so more families will be able to benefit from the wonderful service this school have to offer families with young children who have brain damage.

Many thanks- wish me luck! Ross
