Ross and Ollie: Bristol to Belgrade hitchhike in aid of Neuroblastoma Children's Cancer Alliance · 23 May 2015
Thank you for your time, we hope you can support this worthy cause. We are Ross Wheeldon and Ollie Neale, two students from the University of Exeter and we are planning a charity hitchhike all the way to Belgrade (Serbia), navigating our way through countries such as Austria, Slovenia and Croatia in order to raise £650.00 for Neuroblastoma Children's Cancer Alliance (http://www.ncca-uk.org). Along the way, we will be asking anyone we can to help us get all the way to Belgrade by 5th June at the latest! This means we will be relying on the kindness of drivers and train providers to let us travel free of charge, whilst promoting our charity at the same time. We would be so so grateful if you could support us in any way you can, donating as much as possible - or spreading the word about our hitchhike and the charity itself!
Here's why we're doing it:
Neuroblastoma is an extremely rare and aggressive children's cancer, a cancer that doesn't always have the same symptoms between two patients. Neuroblastoma is a cancer of the sympathetic nervous system, with tumours more often than not occurring in the adrenal glands or abdomen. Due to the aggressive nature of this cancer therapies often include the more intensive treatments such as chemotherapy, surgery, myeloablative radiation, and stem-cell transplants with little success of remission. Following these aggressive treatments, subsequent relapse is likely. Therefore further research is desperately needed to improve remission rates and decrease relapse rates.
Neuroblastoma Children's Cancer Alliance supports families faced with Neuroblastoma and works closely with experts to ensure that cutting edge treatments are available to families in the UK.
