The walk has been completed, a massive thank you to everyone who has donated and others who helped me during the week. :)
My name is Rowan Edwards and I work for Blyth Iceland, as a company we are raising funds for Alzheimer's Research UK. As a store, last year Blyth raised over £2,700 which is fantastic but this year we are hoping to beat that total. The money collected from this walk will go towards that total.
Over the week starting 18th of August (saturday to saturday) I will be walking 100 miles along a planned route in the north east, visiting 23 Iceland stores and seeing what everyone's doing for the collective charity drive.
My route passes through South Shields, Sunderland, Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Darlington and Durham with many detours inbetween. I have set myself the personal target of covering the distance of 100 miles over the period of a week and for someone with my modest fitness levels I expect it to be a challenge!
I feel very passionately about this cause as Alzheimer's is a condition that affects so many people we know and it is something that I believe can be remedied within my lifetime with sufficient funding.
