Story

Firstly, every member of the Rowlands Runners 2012 team would like to say a massive thank you for sponsoring us – your support really motivated every single one of us to work hard and run 26 very long miles and we cannot thank you enough! Below are some personal messages from us to you:

Thank you so much to everyone who has gone to the trouble and donated money for the NSPCC. It is quite overwhelming the amount raised so far. The pain of 26.2 miles seems all worth it knowing that the money you have donated is going to make a massive difference to children's lives. Thanks again!
Vicky

I had a great day, if that’s possible after 26 miles, weather was very hot and meant I had to pour bottles of water over myself from Canary Warf onwards to try and cool down.

A decent run after my four toilet stops in the first five miles (or after I threw away my belt holding my gels and squeezing my bladder!)

Unfortunately I had the unforgettable experience of running behind the 70 year old gentleman dressed in the leopard skin mankini for 800m which has scarred me almost as much as it will have chaffed him.

Thank you for your support and just possibly, the RR’s may be out on the streets of London again next year.

Kenny

My first marathon (and possibly last!!) was incredible; from b-lining through the other runners when I caught a glimpse of a people handing out jelly babies, to making an cheeky appearance in Will Young’s BBC interview, I had one of the best  days of my life.

Thank you so much for your generosity, the marathon was an emotional, amazing and unforgettable experience and your support is really appreciated, thank you.

Emily

From the nervous smells of starting pen 4, and the big waves for the cameras at Cutty Sark to the high fiving on Tower Bridge and the noise of random cheers of encouragement on Birdcage Walk, the  26.2 miles was the best day I’ve had out I London for a long time... and it will take some beating!

I'm not sure how many steps I took getting around the marathon course but we’ve all taken one step closer to putting a Full Stop to Child cruelty.

Thank you to all that supported me and the Rowlands Runners, I was delighted with my time and next year, (yes next year), there may be some fancy dress involved!!!
