The Charity do a considerable amount of fund raising to provide the hospital with additional equipment, they recently funded the purchase of 4D scanner for &pound;161k, they put on several annual events for the children associated with the unit, which gives them and their parents the opportunity to meet others who have or are going through similar experiences. Edward has attended many of these functions where we have made valuable friends. At 10 months old he had open heart surgery at Glenfield Hospital in Leicester, to repair these defects. Throughout Edwards surgery, and recovery, both my wife and I were able to stay close by in the accommodation wing attached to the ward, which Heart Link funded the building off. Edwards operation was very successful, however when he was eight years old he required open heart surgery again to replace his leaky pulmonary valve. Again we stayed with him throughout, courtesy of Heart Link.
