Rotterdam Marathon 2013 · 14 April 2013 ·

Midgeland RDA is based at Midgeland Riding School in Blackpool and provides horse riding for Adults and Children with various disabilities. Horse riding improves balance, strength, co-ordination and increases confidence and self-esteem. It is a valuable tool for Physotherapy and most of all is fun!

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. This will be my 24th marathon. The riding stables I go to,Midgeland in Blackpool, has a very active Riding for the Disabled group. They are trying to raise £40,000 to buy a mechanical horse riding simulator. This will enable disabled riders to experience all horses' gaits,i.e walk ,trot and canter. At the moment they only get to ride the horse in walk as they have to have a helper each side. The helpers couldn't keep up with a real horse in trot and canter.

I had a go on the mechanical horse, called Queenie, it was very realistic. It will be used extensively to promote disabled riding in our region. I've set myself the target of raising £4000 which will be the most I have ever raised from marathon sponsorship. All the money raised will go the charity, I will pay my own travel expenses etc. I am sure with your generous donations I will be able to raise the £4000.
