Story
In March I went, with my daughter Verity, to the Masindi District of Northern Uganda to see ICR's work first hand and open the school block in the village of Nyakibete which my sponsors helped to fund last year.
This visit was a very moving experience for me and changed my perspective on life in many ways. When you consider that a school like Nyakibete has 980 pupils in just 7 classes between ages 4 and 16; that many of the children walk 10 miles back and forth to school every day; that 30% of them have HIV and that many are refugees, driven South by marauding gangs from the Sudan who kidnap children to fight in their civil wars, it makes you appreciate how fortunate we are living in our developed world. Despite their plight, the warmth of emotion and the gratitude expressed by the children, their parents and teachers towards me and the other members of the ICR delegation and the sponsors was overwhelming.
Your support really does make an incredible difference to the lives of so many children.
Thank you for your support
