Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On 25 April 2010 I’ll be trying my hand at running the London Marathon. My local club is Saddleworth Runners. Every year we choose a charity and raise money on their behalf throughout the year. Although I'm used to running, it's usually at a rather leisurely pace with regular stops for tea and cake! Therefore, I've set myself the challenge of attempting to run it in under four hours.

This year’s charity is Francis House. Francis House Children's Hospice, based in Didsbury, provides care for children and young adults with life threatening conditions. Care is given free of charge and regardless of faith or cultural background. So every penny donated goes some way to keeping Francis House in business caring for the children and families of the .

For every hour the hospice needs £222 just to stand still – to pay for the fabric of the building, heating, lighting and so on, as well as paying for the care they provide such as nursing, physiotherapy and a whole range of specialist medical care.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now, and, if you're at a loose end on 25 April, do come along and gee me on!
