***NEWSFLASH***

I am happy to report, as I lie incapcitated in bed, that I successfully completed the London Marathon yesterday. A very enjoyable 14miles soaking up the incredible support was followed by 12miles of unbearable pain stemming from my broken knees and back. Not sure who I was fooling, but I managed to hold back tears of pain and crawl over the line in 4h55.

I am so incredibly grateful to all who have supported me in this great cause!

************************************************************************

72 days from the London Marathon 2012, I find myself a charity ticket through Leukaemia Busters.

I am incredibly overweight, have not run in a year, have a decrepit knee and it is snowing outside.

For those who know me, I am pretty competitive and this is a challenge I am going to take by the horns. If I have to crawl over that finish line on my hands and knees, I am finishing.

My motivation stems from my daughter's battle with Leukaemia last year. Not only am I running to honour her strength, but also all of those children who we got to meet during our journey. Some are living a full life in remission, some are still going through chemotherapy or bone marrow transplants and some lovely children were not so lucky and have departed.

So, when you are done:

(a) laughing your head off at my expense

(b) thinking how crazy I am for attempting this at such short notice or

(c) drying your eyes because of my personal story or those of so many others who have suffered/are suffering or who have lost loved ones to Leukaemia

...then I would like you to part with just a little bit of your money to support the AMAZING work which is being carried out by the very clever scientists at Leukaemia Busters research labs in Southampton Hospital.

I have loaded my training schedule here, where you can see my progress.

In my current condition, I would be happy to achieve a run time of 5 hours.

If you feel like challenging me to run faster, then when you donate say £10, then in your comment, why not say, "I will donate another £10 if you run less than 5hours". Or push me further and say "here is £10 and I'll raise you £100 if you break 4:30!" Get it?

Thank you for supporting me in this. It is a very worthwhile cause!

And while you are at it, why not share my link on your social media pages!

See you on the road!
