Story
From March 2014 to September 2015, three friends and I ran the entire length of the London Underground system for two verygood causes. One of which is War Child. We ran almost 600km each including 4 ultramarathons - so please give what you can!
War Child is an excellent charitythat protects children living in the world's most dangerous war zones, including Afghanistan, CAR, DRC, Iraq, Syria, and Uganda.
These children include former childsoldiers, children living on streets, at risk of rape or violence, and childprisoners.
War Child helps by:
- Rebuilding schools
- Separating children from adult detainees in prison and providing legal aid
- Reintegrating child soldiers with their families
- Getting children off the streets after war has forced them to leave home
- Counselling to help children cope with the effects of war
- Vocational and professional training which gives them future opportunities
- Ensuring children get access to food
- Changing harmful attitudes in the community towards children
- Raising awareness of the issues with the public and lobbying politicians to get children’s voices heard by the people who have the power to change things on a grander scale.
£15 could feedthree children in our kindergarten for a month.
£50 could pay fora year’s worth of life-changing education for a girl inUganda.
£100 could help reunifya former child soldier with her family or set her up to liveindependently.
Anything you can give will make a difference, so please give what youcan and don't forget to add Gift Aid.
