Music Fund for Cuba Cycle Cuba Challenge · 21 April 2010

It works with the National Centre of Arts and Music Schools (CNEArt) in Cuba to send and distribute materials to children and young people for music and performing arts education in Cuba.

Story

Thanks for visiting my page.

The Cuba Cycle Challenge is 220 miles over 6 days, with an average of 37 miles per day with the longest ride being 44 miles. The route takes in some steep climbs and descents and we’ve been warned that some of the road surfaces are still severely eroded following the last hurricane.  It’ll be hot; the national average temperature in April is 29 oC but mid day temperatures can be significantly higher. Although we’re there in the dry season, apparently there can be heavy downpours at any time.

Why should you donate?

Established in memory of Kirsty MacColl, the Music Fund for Cuba raises money for essential musical instruments and other equipment for projects such as the amazing Abel Santamaria School for visually impaired children in Havana and to restore the Teatro Miramar community theatre to the benefit of the whole community.

All donations will go straight to the Music Fund for Cuba as I will be paying all my fares, hotel costs etc.

The work of the Music Fund can be found at www.musicfundforcuba.org.uk

I’m fairly fit but have never seriously trained for anything before this.  So, to help motivate myself, I’ve been recording my training on a  blog . I'll also use this to record my experiences of the cycle challenge.
