Russell's RS Tour de Branch

RS Tour de Branch · 8 June 2019
2 years ago I weighed 18 1/2 stone. As I write this I weigh 13 stone. What changed for me to make that difference? I wanted to set an example for my children and grandchildren; to be fitter, lighter and healthier.
In year 1 I lost a stone and walked 1500 miles. Last year that turned into 2500 miles in 1000 walks and 1500 miles on my bike. This year the target is 4000 miles on the bike.
1000 of those miles will be in 12 days, travelling from Aberdeen, through Wales, to the south coast and finishing in London, visiting every branch of RS Components - A place that makes me proud to go to work and who have set the challenge of raising £250,000 for the awesome Children with Cancer charity.
Could I have contemplated doing this 2 years ago? Absolutely not. It (really!) scares me now and it will hurt. But to be able to help a parent, a family and a child dealing with cancer I can motivate myself past that. I feel so lucky to never have had to deal with my children or grandchildren suffering cancer and equally so reassured that CwC is out there helping those that do.
Children with Cancer UK actively raise and invest money for vital specialist research to save the lives of every child with cancer and keep their family together. Their vision is a world where every child diagnosed with cancer gets to ring their end of cancer treatment bell.
