On June 20th 2013 I will be taking part in Intelligent Sport's UK Challenge 2013 as part of a graduate team from CGI. http://www.ukchallenge.co.uk/

For three days and nights I will be careering over Dartmoor, mountain biking through dense forests and kayaking over breath taking lakes. But it’s not a straight race – my route and success will depend on how I plan, communicate and work within a team.

This event will require intense training, dedication and the ability to learn new skills.

By me not being a born athlete I’m sure just getting into shape is a feat in itself,  however the fact I am the only girl selected to represent CGI I’m sure will spur me on (with the want to outdo the boys).

All of this hard work isn’t for nothing and I am proud to be doing my bit for the Dame Kelly Holmes Trust. 

This charity was set up to work with and help disadvantaged young people. Many of these have struggled to stay in school; some have been in care or are homeless, and too many lack real purpose and direction in their life. 

No stranger to adversity earlier in her own life, Dame Kelly believes that every child needs a hero, someone to look up to and be inspired by. 

But too many kids just don’t have this in their lives. Currently, over one million young people are not in education, employment or training. They need help. Someone to believe in them and help them find their own talents.  So in just three years, Kelly’s charity has provided mentoring and support from World Class athletes to over 15,000 youngsters. The charity's team of Olympians, Paralympians, and World Champions know what it takes to overcome obstacles, and still have the will to succeed, not only in sport, but in life too.
