Story

Hi there everyone,

Yes, unbelievable as it is, I am actually levering myself up off the sofa and taking part in a sponsored event which involves exercise, all without a bottle of vodka and safety net, well, maybe not the vodka!!

I am raising money to support Bournemouth Society for the Visually Impaired, the Charity I work for, which this month, is celebrating 100 years of fantastic service to the community!

All of the BSVI staff, together with volunteers and friends will be doing their bit either by cycling, running or walking along Bournemouth Seafront on World Sight Day, Thursday 13 October 2011, to raise both awareness of visual impairment and funds for BSVI.

As you know, the mere thought of excerise brings me out in a cold sweat and I have to go lie down in a darkened room until the thought passes, so the fact that I am actually taking part rather than just organising the event proves that I really would like to raise as much money as I can for this brilliant Charity. I will be undertaking the 4 mile walk, or in my case stagger and crawl, which may not be far, but for me it will be like running the marathon. However, I have been assured that oxygen will be available at the finishing line! Strangely enough, the finishing line is right next to the Neptune pub at Boscombe - no prizes for guessing who suggested that!!

I would be so pleased if you would support my efforts by donating whatever you can - it is for such a good cause - and don't forget Gift Aid adds a further 25% at no cost to you. Also, the more people who support my efforts, the less likelihood there will be for me to find a valid excuse to get out of it!! I have already tried a dislocated eyelash and a broken finger nail, but to no avail, although I can't understand why!

Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. Most of us take our sight for granted so if you can, please dig deep and donate now.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
