People affected by prostate cancer need breakthrough treatments. Research is the only way to turn this hope into reality. Combining patient stories and scientific expertise, we fund projects that have a real impact, reducing side-effects, cutting treatment costs and ultimately improving outcomes.

Story

Thank you for visiting my JustGiving page!

I have been lucky to secure a ballot place in the London Marathon 2023 & I made a promise to a very special friend that if I ever got a place I would run it for him to promote his fund raising and awareness for prostate cancer.

Little did I realise  that 2 years later I would be running it in his memory and he wouldn’t be there to see me at the finishing line.

As some of you may not know Phil’s story I asked Morag , Harriet & Archie if they would write a few words.

This is Phil’s  story :

Phil lived with prostate cancer for over 10 yrs. He was diagnosed at the age of 42 and underwent numerous operations, Radiotherapy,  Chemotherapy and Cyberknife. Throughout this he continued to work, bring up his family and indulge in his lifelong passion -  riding his motorbike.

He bore his illness with bravery and determination never giving up right until the end. He had a naughty sense of humour but he really wanted to leave some kind of legacy.

In 2017 he had the honour of becoming the DGR (Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride) ambassador. He had an amazing time and was able to raise awareness and money for Prostate Cancer and mens mental health which was really important to him.

Sadly Phil lost his battle in 2021, he is gone but never forgotten.

So now is the time for me to keep my promise to you Phil,  I will run every step in your memory & try to continue your hard work of raising awareness of this terrible disease & raise as much ,money as I can to continue vital reasearch to try to find a cure.;

Thank you for taking the time to read my page,  please help me keep my promise to one of the bravest men I had the pleasure of knowing .

People affected by prostate cancer need breakthrough treatments, and research is the only way to turn this hope into reality.
