Walk for Myeloma UK · 25 September 2021

Myeloma UK is the only organisation in the UK dealing exclusively with myeloma. We provide information and support to patients and their families and help myeloma patients live longer, with a better quality of life by accelerating the discovery, development of and access to new treatments.

Story

I’ve organised this Dartmouth coastal walk on 25th September for neighbours and friends (followed by soup, bread and cakes), to help raise money for and awareness of the blood cancer Myeloma

Myeloma usually affects people aged over 70 years old and every year over 5000 people are diagnosed in UK.

My youngest sister Deb was diagnosed about 10 years ago when she was only 34 and her children were only 3 & 5 and she was only expected to live up to 5 years.

Though this cancer is not currently curable, treatment advances have made a huge difference to patients like Deb. She has regular chemotherapy and is currently in partial remission following a second stem cell transplant in August 2020

The incredible work and research that is going on here and around the world has already given her the chance to see her children reach secondary school and sixth form. They even get involved in fund raising now too. Deb is on a mission to raise £50,000 before she turns 50 and I am trying to help her reach her target.

Myeloma UK provide incredible support to patients like Deb as well as funding major research into new drugs and influencing big players in the NHS.

I would be really grateful if you could donate to this cause.
