We need your help to bring the future of medical imaging to Sheffield.

Story

On June 22, I’m walking a marathon - 26.2 mile's/ 42.2km's - to raise money for the Sheffield Scanner, a ground-breaking MRI-PET scanner facility

I've never walked this type of distance. In fact, I'm quite happily a couch potato when left to my own devices. This will be my first Big Walk and I really want to help everyone get to our £2 million target!

Starting in Lodge Moor on the edge of Sheffield, we head out to the Peak District, and loop back, finishing on the University campus.

Why are we doing this?  We are raising funds towards the University’s £2 million fundraising campaign for the Sheffield Scanner - a ground-breaking MRI-PET scanner facility, and the first of its kind in Yorkshire. The Sheffield Scanner will represent the next leap forward in medical and imaging research and have a crucial role for research and patients in many areas of medicine, including cancer, neurodegenerative diseases such as Motor Neurone Disease, Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s, heart disease, diabetes and stroke.
