On My Way To The Roof of the World!

Thanks to your generosity I have exceeded my initial fundraising target of £5500 and have inceased my target to £7000.   As I have now departed for the Challenge  please continue to donate as much as you can to  help me reach my new target.

Those of you who know me well will recall that  trekking up mountains is something I'm reasonably au fait with although to be fair it's probably five years since I did anything quite as strenuous as this.  On September 26th I'm off to Nepal to trek for 6 days in the Himalayas on a Challenge for The Prince's Trust.  Walking for up to 9 hours a day at altitudes over 4000m on steep rough terrain, temperatures ranging from hot during the day to well below freezing at night, shared tents, no showers and "hole in the ground"  loos all seem a far cry from the chauffeur driven limos and 5 star hotel rooms of my former life in the City.

I've had quite a lot of first hand experience of The Prince's Trust over  the past 12 months, volunteering on and attending a number of the programmes they run for young people as well as offering financial support through the Women's Leadership Group - hence my participation in this Challenge.  The Prince's Trust helps young people aged 14-30 who have dropped out of education, are in or are leaving care, are long-term unemployed or may have been in prison.  The programmes which typically run from 4-12 weeks, offer training, mentoring and financial assistance to young people and help them to transform their lives .  These programmes are very effective with over 70% of participants on the programmes going into jobs, training programmes or further education. The cost of putting each individual through a 12 week programme with the Trust is approx. £1000.   The cost of my participation in this Challenge has already been taken care of so all amounts you donate - large or small - will go directly to the Trust.  Please give generously and Make a Difference to someone else's life.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.
