I'm raising funds for St Luke's Hospice which is based in Harrow, Middlesex. My Mother battled cancer for 20 years and it was whilst visiting the Hospice as a day patient that she rediscovered her passion for art. She was already accomplished in tapestry and knitting and in her youth had dreamt of becoming an artist, however, in those days it was not the profession of an educated woman.

Through the hospice she got the courage to attend art classes at the Harrow Art Centre. This led to her having an exhibition in Gayton Library where she raised hundreds of pounds for the Hospice through the sale of her paintings. Her painting gave her immense joy in the latter years of her battle.

People think of a Hospice as a place to spend your final days, but it's also a place where you can get a new lease of life, where your passion for something can be ignited.

St Luke's Hospice aim to provide high quality care to those with a serious progressive illness regardless of their circumstances or background. This care is aimed at enhancing patients' quality of life as well as giving support to their families.
