Story
Oscar is nine years old and has severe hypotonia, reflux, club foot, cleft palate, hydronephrosis of both kidneys from reflux, double glue ears, neurological abnormalities, Cor Triatriatum with an AVSD in the heart and sagittal synostosis, global developmental delays and a few other things but is a chirpy little smiler!
There is no known child in the world to have the same collection of problems as Oscar.
Oscar has had 17 operations including major heart surgery (when he was in heart failure). He has attended over 2000 medical appointments. Oscar cannot walk or talk. One of his biggest disabilities is he can be anxious as a result of all of the medical interventions.
Footsteps physiotherapy is giving Oscar the chance to fulfil his greatest potential. Oscar is learning to walk but needs constant physiotherapy in order to do so. Oscar goes to Footsteps for 2 hours every day for 12 weeks of the year and in between he goes every Tuesday and Friday after school. This is a huge cost (around £10k a year) and commitment for the family (132 days a year) but one that is vital. Without Footsteps, Oscar will never walk. With intensive physiotherapy, Oscar will walk. At Footsteps already Oscar has learnt to bottom shuffle, crawl and walk with the aid of a walker, between the parallel bars and much much more!
We are raising money for Footsteps Foundation for which Oscar would greatly benefit.
