So we did it. Despite many obstacles inlcuding back and knee injuries and Steve's....issues....we all succesfully completed The 30th Great North Run! A big thank you to all who have donated, inlcuding our anonymous donors; all of your money and messages really helped spur us on to the finish.

This page has not closed so please continue to give if you can, and let's try and get our total up to the £1,500 mark!

Thank you all so much, this money really helps change people's lives.....

We chose to run for DebRA. DebRA is the national charity working on behalf of people in the UK with the genetic skin blistering condition Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB). EB is a very rare and upsetting genetic condition in which the skin and internal body linings blister at the slightest knock or rub, causing painful, open wounds. It takes parents 3-4 hours every day just to bathe and dress the wounds of their children, avoiding as much physical contact as they can so as not to break the skin. DebRA is an extremely worthy charity that relies solely on the donations of fundraisers. Please take the time to visit their website, they explain it a whole lot better than we can!

To give you an idea of what your money can buy:

£1        can provide ‘Scratch Mitts’ to prevent a baby born with EB from tearing their own skin

£5         could buy a pair of silver fibre gloves or socks that promote comfort and can assist in fighting acute skin conditions

£10         could buy a month’s supply of cooling mist spray to reduce the itch and discomfort in warm weather

£25         could pay for one hour of research to bring us closer to finding an effective treatment for EB

£100         is the average cost of dressings needed every two days

£500         could pay for a home air conditioning unit – essential apparatus to keep the skin cool

£1,000         could help fund the welfare needs of a child with EB – providing a range of equipment such as special bed linen, food blenders, adapted buggies and much more

£3,000         could support one of our mobile homes for a year – giving a great many children with EB and their families a much needed holiday break

£5,000         provides the parents of a newborn baby with a complete package of special equipment including special bottles with soft teats to reduce the risk of mouth blisters, padded mattresses and super soft cosy rugs

£10,000        could provide a local child with specialist nursing for a whole year
