Story
Stafford House London has been raising money throughout the year for United World Schools - an amazing organisation dedicated to improving educational opportunities for some of the world's poorest children in remote communities. So far, we've raised an impressive £1324.00, through bake sales and raffles, but love to reach out target for the year of £1750.00.
The last event of the year will see 8 members of the Academic and Student Services teams head down to Battersea Park on Saturday 18th November, running shoes in tow, to take part in the 5K & 10K run!!!!
Julian, Carl, Matthew, Marc, Danny, Noelia, Maria and Susi have all been training incredibly hard (!!) and are hoping to get all the way around without collapsing, while raising lots of money for our nominated school in Cambodia! Here's what they have to say;
Julian will tell anyone that will listen how much he hates running. He's only run 5K in the past so running the 10K will be tough! His main motivation (apart from raising money for UWS, of course) is making sure that Danny eats his dust! :P
Carl has never taken part in a competitive run, and recently turned 40! He'll be happy if he can finish the 10K within a few minutes of the young whippersnappers on the team.
Matthew will be running 5K, after being bullied into it by the rest of the team. Although he's currently in Spain, he has managed to find a Spanish running club so he can train while he's on holiday! What a trooper.
Marc will be motivating the rest of the team as the most seasoned runner. He's hoping to beat his personal best and bring along as many of his students as possible :)
Danny will be running 10K and is hoping to finish under 50 minutes. Training is going well, but he's hoping to avoid getting a stitch half way around.... As long as he beats Julian, he'll be happy ;)
Noelia says her reason for running 5K instead of 10K is so that she doesn't cross the finish line on her own.
Maria is getting back into a healthier lifestyle. She's promised to cycle (and eventually run) to work everyday in preparation. She's not sure how long it will take to run 5K, but living so close to the park is perfect for training :)
Susi is running 5K, which is further than she ever imagined running. Inspired by her brand new running shoes and the motto 'slow and steady wins the race!' She's totally not going to win the race...!
