Sarah's 80 mile month in July for World Federation For Mental Health · 17 June 2019

The World Federation for Mental Health exists to promote the advancement of mental health awareness, prevention of mental disorders, increase advocacy, and best practice recovery focused interventions worldwide.

Story

I'm taking part in a charity running challenge at my work - we've dubbed it the LON>DEN MARATHON. Collectively, our goal is to run the distance between our two most distant offices - London to Denver, which is 4,658 miles.

Each MOO Runner will complete their own running challenge and mine is to run more than 80 miles in July (for context, this is over double what I can usually manage to run in a month so this is going to be a tough one!).

In addition to my individual fundraising efforts, MOO, and some of our partners, will be donating £1 per mile run to World Mental Health Day, so every mile will count in this month-long challenge.

The World Federation for Mental Health is an amazing organisation that has been raising awareness for mental health for the last 70 years. This year, the theme for World Mental Health Day is suicide prevention. According to the World Health Organisation, more than 800,000 die by suicide each year, making it the principal cause of death among people fifteen to twenty-nine years old.

"We talk about mental illness to make it visible. We talk to make the unseen seen. We talk to heal. We talk to survive." - Matt Haig
