Story
Father’s Football began in March 2012 in the London inner city borough of Tower Hamlets. Ambassadors’ worker Gareth was inspired to befriend dads through football, to build bridges between the different cultural groups in the area, address health needs and encourage greater involvement by the dads in their children’s education. The Father’s Football project is based around local primary schools. Fathers participate in football coaching sessions, matches, classroom sessions, tournaments, parent/child school activities, ‘fathers forums’ and social events. The project, with support from 7 local churches, the local council and 12 local schools, has more than 80 dads participating. The relationships built with the dads have led to stronger relationships being built with families across the community. Visit the Ambassadors in Football website below for more information.
