Lucy Wisdom, Founder of the Sumatran Orangutan Society, died on 19th December 2009 after battling cancer for 15 years. Her endless dedication to orangutan and forest conservation was an inspiration to so many people, and we at SOS are proud to continue the work she started. She will be greatly missed. The Lucy Wisdom Fund has been established in Lucy's memory, to provide a scholarship for Indonesian postgraduate university students to study orangutans, and to purchase forest land in Sumatra.
