Anyone can get Parkinson’s. It gets worse over time and there’s no cure. Yet. Funding research into the most promising treatments, we’re getting closer to a cure. Until then, we're improving life for people with Parkinson’s, and the people in their lives. Together we'll find a cure.

Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

The SRCLExpertRETRIEVAL/QA team will be walking approximately 32 miles from Reading to the well known city of Windsor on the 25th July 2013- In rain or shine!! All money raised will be donated to Parkinson’s UK.

We have chosen Parkinson’s UK as our charity as for many of us, this charity is close to the heart. From friends & family to strangers, this charity will affect everybody’s lives in one way or another, so please dig deep and sponsor us to do this.

Any amount will be so much appreciated!

See below for a little information about Parkinson’s & how your donations can help change the lives of thousands.

Parkinson’s disease is a condition in which part of the brain becomes progressively more damaged (a progressive neurological condition). One person in every 500 has Parkinson's. That's about 127,000 people in the UK.

Most people who get Parkinson's are aged 50 or over but many do not realise that younger people can get it too. One in 20 is under the age of 40.

People with Parkinson's don't have enough of a chemical called dopamine because nerve cells in their brain have died. Without dopamine movements become slower and more difficult to control, may people suffer from tremors, involuntary shaking and muscle stiffness. The loss of nerve cells in the brain causes the symptoms of Parkinsons to appear. There's currently no cure for Parkinson's and we don't yet know why people get the condition.

Parkinson's UK work to fund pioneering new research into the disease, with the hope that one day a cure may be found.

Please, please support us with whatever you can afford in raising money for this very worthwhile cause, and hopefully contributing to a future cure.
