Story

Introduction
This website has been set up in fond memory of Malcolm (Robbie) Roberts who died 17th December 2011. Friends and former colleagues might appreciate the following extract from Robbie’s philosophy on life which was read out at his funeral

Robbie’s Take on Life
“As soon as I could think for myself, I put God in with the unicorn, Rockfist Hogan, Accrington Stanley and all the other mythical beings with magical powers. Even if they did not exist, they were rattling good stories and part of my culture.

Meanwhile, what of mankind? I still knew right from wrong, thanks to my parents, and although my suspicion was unassailable that they both voted Conservative, I knew that their ideals were right. I became convinced that if we all contributed to the common good, if we stood and pulled together and worked for the happiness of one another, then we would achieve the greatest happiness of the greatest number. Conversely, the pursuit of personal gain at communal expense, pushing self-interest against common benefit was, in a way immoral. I paid my taxes in full, without complaint or evasion.”

Supporting SUAG
As Robbie was a former patient at the North West Spinal Injuries Unit in Southport, he would have approved of your support for the unit which provides vital rehabilitation services for people with spinal injuries.

Your donation
Your donation will be forwarded directly to the Spinal Unit Action Group (SUAG) and Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. SUAG was established in 1973 to support the patients and ex-patients of the North West regional Spinal Injuries Centre in Southport.
