InshAllah on the 11th February I will be flying out with a group of volunteers to participate in a sponsored trek up the highest mountain in Africa - Mount Kilimanjaro. The 7 day climb promises to be a little painful especially since I’m very lazy and not so good with exercise :P
HOWEVER I will complete the climb and InshAllah raise at least £7,000 over the coming 3 months in aid of Islamic Help's Smile Better campaign and do so WITH your SUPPORT (InshAllah).
The smiles better campaign is one that is very dear to me; the campaign raises awareness about acid attacks in developing countries and works to provide life changing surgery for children, women and men who have suffered from acid burns. The campaign also raises funds to provide surgery for children born with cleft lip and palates.
I believe that everyone and I mean everyone is equal and that we should always strive to help eliminate pain and suffering in its many forms and shapes across the world. Some people have no money, no job, no food, no parents, no children and the list goes on and on, people suffer everywhere you go and some hurt and feel pain because of the horrendous actions of others. In most cases women are the victims of acid attacks and it is heart breaking to read and hear that these attacks are so predominant in some countries and there is little or no support available to them. In some cases children are often with their mothers when they are attacked as a result the children are left severely burnt and scarred for life!!!! I don’t know about anyone else but I strongly believe and wish that for every 1 attacker there was a nation of people willing to do something to right that wrong – I’m asking of you to be one of those people and help make a difference!
It costs only £150 to provide surgery on a child born with cleft lip. Please give as little or as much as you can - every penny you donate will help put a smile on someone’s face - starting with mine :D
