Story

Last year I got a letter to say I had a ballot place in the London Marathon, once I got over the shock, thought about the pain and having to be in Las Vegas that week, I thought about how it could raise money for a charity. At the same time I was setting up Blink, a charity for blind and visually impaired children and their families.

Our first project is to raise money and profile of blind golf amongst the blind schools in the UK - it really does bring so many benefits to the children in terms of participating in an outdoor sport and one that needs no special equipment just a guide and whole families can take part. Currently there is no funding for teaching it or equipment in the schools and the profile of it is pretty low. We would also like to fund a holiday for a group of children and families to a golf resort in 2012, giving the Mum and Dad's a bit of a break too.

As Blink is still going through the necessary regulation departments the England and Wales Blind Golf Association will be ring-fencing the monies for us so can use JustGiving. If you would like to see your logo appear on my shirt or make a direct donation to Blink please contact sadie@bubblesqueak.co.uk.

And finally I am now up to 18 miles, I have 6 blisters on one foot, my legs hurt so much I have to take lifts up 1 flight of stairs and I have listened to over 100 episodes of Desert Island Discs. Rock on April 22nd.

Thank you for giving.
