Story

The Sahara Race is a self-supported race that was originally due to take place in the Sahara desert in Egypt but has now been moved to Jordan and involves running through 4 different deserts and finishing in the historic city of Petra.

Competitors are required to cover a distance of 250km (150 miles) over 7 days split into 6 stages.  Competitors must carry everything they need for seven days on their backs including any race gear, food and clothing. The average backpack weighs 9 kilograms / 20 pounds, excluding water.

Stages 1 to 4 take place over the first 4 days and involve running a marathon every day.  Stage 5 is split over days 5 & 6 and involves running a double marathon (approx 50 miles). stage 6 is on day 7 and involves a gentle 10km, finishing at the historic city of Petra

The event will take lots of preparation and we have started this over a year ahead of time with lots of additional training events planned including marathons, long beach runs, 24 hour spin events, running on the Humber bridge for 12 hours, 60 mile races, a training camp in Spain and more !  Aswell as the physical test, this will be a massive test of mental strength - having the endurance to keep going day after day, mile after mile.

Josh & Liz are going to be running a marathon every week between now and Xmas - Thats an amazing 7 marathons in 7 weeks !

You can follow our training on Twitter - @Sahararace and on our website www.Sahararace.co.uk where we keep a weekly training log to let you follow along

Thanks for your support
