We use small change to make a BIG difference...

Story

Hi my name is Saleem. I am a coventry based optometrist and run my own practice. I have always had this inner desire to do charity work so that I can make a difference to those in need for help around the world. From a very young age I have felt that we all are so lucky and blessed to have all the things we desire and feel myself and many others around me to be fortunate to be in this position.

Over the last 12 months I have engaged myself with the Penny appeal and other organisations volunteering to help in many charity events. We have undertaken various challenges which include bucket collections, charity car wash, charity auction/dinner and more recently the super muslim comedy show. Engaging myself with the penny appeal has made me realise how much difference one can make. My inner desire to help the needy is more now than ever before.

I have always wanted to challenge myself to do something that could make a difference on a global scale. Running the coventry half marathon will not only challenge myself but will also allow me to fundraise for those in need in Rohingya during this very difficult time that they are faced with currently. Running the Coventry half marathon will not be easy, it will be a tough 13.1 miles to cover but I will try my best and push myself to achieve this goal.

So I urge you all to donate generously on my just giving page, lets all get together and make that difference. "SMALL CHANGE BIG DIFFERENCE"
I will keep you guys updated of my progress whilst training over the coming weeks. May all our efforts be accepted. Ameen..........

Myanmar Refugees: There Is No Greater Toll Than The Loss Of Life

The Rohingyan community need our help urgently, hundreds are being killed; mothers and children, brothers and sisters, thousands are fleeing in desperate search of a safe haven.

Penny Appeal teams are on the ground inside Myanmar as well as Bangladesh and Pakistan providing food, water, medicine, and shelter to those trying to escape the atrocities.

Being human demands we must do something when we see genocide taking place. We aim to raise as much as possible to provide the essentials for these people through your generous donations.

An estimated 165,000 Rohingya refugees have fled following the violence. The number is rising. They need your help, fast.

- £50 provides a family foodpack
