Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I became involved with WYCE over 5 years ago, and for the last 4 years have promised that "one day" I would drive a Landrover down to Gambia for them.  Sometimes we have to wait longer than we'd like for our dreams to become reality, but, on 25th October, my Dad and I are leaving Jersey to take 'Lara the Landy' to her new home in Medina Salaam as the latest vehicular addition to the WYCE team (www.wonderyearsce.co.uk)

I feel a re-naming ceremony coming on beforehand - she really has to be renamed the 'Sallymata' - anyone good with signage please step forward as we also need the charity logo on there too!.

Several people had asked if I'd be getting sponsored for this adventure and having considered the best way in which to do this, had decided that it would be more beneficial to request Goods and Services, rather than money.  Having bought the Landy myself, I originally looked at requesting help with the preparation for travel, equipment, spares, etc. and, prompted by the offers of loans of hi-vis jackets etc, posted a Wish List on the discussion board of my Facebook Group - Gambia or Bust!

However, there are those of you who are just too far away and/or do not have the necessary equiment/skills to assist, who would like to sponsor so I have therefore decided to set up this JustGiving page for those of you who would like to 'do your bit' this way.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Thanks for all your interest and ongoing support

Sallie (and Big Bad John)  xx
